Green Cleaning Workbook for Long Term Care Homes
This training curriculum was developed in collaboration with the Connecticut Employees Union Independent (CEUI), Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 511 steering committee and the University of Connecticut Green Cleaning Advisory Board and revised by Informed Green Solutions (IGS). Topics for the training were identified based on findings from focus groups and the Green Cleaning and Health Survey. The training has been converted into an online interactive Ebook for housekeepers, custodians and other facilities workers. It covers the details of a green cleaning program, environmental health issues and concerns from workers on switching to a green cleaning program.

However, some cleaning products are associated with health issues and hazards. Small children are particularly vulnerable from exposure to chemicals in cleaning products because of their size, development, and behaviors. Attendees will learn about the hazards of conventional cleaning products and how to recognize safer alternatives for Early Childhood settings. The elements of a “green” cleaning program will be discussed.
